WTA Rankings, Post Guadalajara: Pegula and Gauff Thriving as Muguruza and Badosa Drop

The American pair notch a milestone by reaching the top five. Jessica Pegula – Sunday’s Guadalajara champion – and Coco Gauff, both take their place in the top five of the WTA singles ranking on Monday, marking the first time that two Americans have held top five rankings simultaneously since Serena and Venus Williams in 2010.

Gauff is up three spots to No.4, while Pegula rises two spots to No.3.


The Americans also rank No.2 (Gauff) and No.3 (Pegula) in doubles, and both will take place in singles and doubles at Next week’s WTA Finals in Fort Worth, Texas.

Kudermetova Career High

There was also movement inside the Top-20 this week, with Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova cracking the Top-10 at No.9, a new career-high.

Daria Kasatkina also jumped two spots, rising to a career-high at No.8, while France’s Caroline Garcia moved up four spots to No.6 (two spots off her previous career high).

On the flip side, Paula Badosa (-4 to 12) and Anett Kontaveit (-14 to 17) drop out of the Top 10.

Garbine Muguruza, losing last year’s Guadalajara champion points, is down 44 spots to No.57.

Maria Bouzkova (+10 to 28) and Victoria Azarenka (+10 to 27), Guadalajara semifinalists, each rise ten spots, while Sloane Stephens jumps 13 to No.37. Bianca Andreescu rises 13 to No.46.
